7 Days in Egypt: Cairo and a Nile Cruise by Flight
This private 7-day itinerary pairs two full days of Cairo and Giza with a 3-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor. Two domestic flights replace the long overland journey, so every day is spent at the sites — not on the road.
Is 7 days enough to see Egypt?
For a first trip, yes. Seven days covers the three places almost every visitor wants: the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the temples of Aswan, and the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple. What it leaves out is Abu Simbel, Alexandria and beach time. If those matter to you, look at the 8-day tour with Abu Simbel or the 9-day tour with Hurghada.
Why fly instead of taking the train?
The flight from Cairo to Aswan takes about an hour and a half, compared with a long overnight sleeper train. Flying in on the morning of day 3 means you can tour the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple the same afternoon before boarding the cruise. The return flight from Luxor on day 6 lets you finish the East Bank temples first and still sleep in Cairo. Both domestic flights are included in the price.
Sailing from Aswan to Luxor
The cruise sails downstream with the current: Aswan, then Kom Ombo — the double temple of Horus and Sobek — then Edfu, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, and finally Luxor. Three nights on board include all meals, the Galabeya evening and Egyptologist-guided visits at every stop. Choose between our 5-star Nile cruises and luxury Nile cruises when you book.
Best time to take this tour
October to April is the most comfortable time, with mild days in Cairo and pleasant evenings on the Nile. December to February is peak season, so book three to four months ahead. From May to September it is very hot in Aswan and Luxor; your guide will start the Valley of the Kings and Karnak visits early in the morning.
How much does the tour cost?
The tour starts from $1,190 per person (regular price $1,250). Children aged 2–5 pay 25% and 6–11 pay 50% of the adult price when sharing with two adults; infants under 2 travel free. A 25% holiday supplement applies over Christmas, New Year and Easter. You secure the trip with a 30% deposit and pay the balance 15 days before arrival.
Worth adding
Popular extras on this route are going inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu, a sunrise hot air balloon over Luxor, and the Sound & Light Show at Giza, Karnak or Philae. Tell us which ones you want and we will add them to your itinerary.

What is the plan for the 7-Day Cairo and Nile Cruise Tour by Flight?
Day 1 is arrival in Cairo and day 2 covers the Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum and Khan El Khalili. On day 3 you fly to Aswan, tour the city and board the Nile cruise. Days 4 and 5 visit Kom Ombo, Edfu and the Luxor West Bank, day 6 the East Bank before a flight to Cairo, and day 7 is departure.
Which meals and nights does the 7-day Cairo and Nile cruise package include?
The facts bar lists 3 nights in a Cairo hotel and 3 nights on the Nile cruise. The meals are 6 breakfasts, 5 lunches and 3 dinners. The package also has two domestic flights, Cairo to Aswan and Luxor to Cairo, a private guide, a private vehicle, entrance fees, bottled water and taxes.
How are the 7-day package prices set, and what is the starting price?
The 7-day flight package starts from $1,020 per person. Three levels are offered, 4 Stars, 5 Stars and Luxury, and each has winter and summer rows that depend on group size, from 9 to 16 travelers to a solo traveler. A travel expert confirms the figure for your group in the quote.
Is the 7-day package suitable for families with children?
Yes. Children pay by age: free under 2, 25% from 2 to 5, 50% from 6 to 11 and the full rate from 12, when they share with two full-paying adults. The itinerary has two domestic flights, so ask a travel expert if you travel with toddlers.
What do I see on the Nile cruise part of the 7-day tour?
After the Aswan tour on day 3, the cruise stops at the double Temple of Kom Ombo and the Temple of Edfu on day 4. On day 5 you reach Luxor for the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank. Day 6 closes with Karnak Temple on the East Bank before the flight to Cairo.
How do I book the 7-day tour by flight and secure the dates?
Request a quote with your dates and number of travelers. A travel expert replies within 24 hours, and the 30% deposit confirms the booking, with the balance due 15 days before arrival. Expect a 50% deposit and a 25% holiday supplement for Christmas, New Year and Easter dates.
