Best Egypt Tours from India

Best Egypt Tours from India

Most Egypt tours from India last 7 to 9 days. They start in Cairo and Giza, then continue to Luxor and Aswan to visit temples such as Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, and Abu Simbel. Since there is no daily direct flight, most travelers use the limited number of EgyptAir nonstop flights from Delhi to Cairo or connect through Dubai, Doha, or Abu Dhabi. Indian passport holders must get an e-Visa before leaving.
Misk Tours offers every package as a private trip based in Cairo, not as a seat on another agency’s group tour. You will have a licensed Egyptologist as your guide, no shopping stops, and vegetarian or Jain meals upon request. Your tour starts according to your flight, not a fixed group schedule. You can also add time at the Red Sea in Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh to end your trip with some relaxing beach days.

Why Indian Travellers Book With Us

Built for the concerns Indian travelers actually raise

Most Egypt packages sold in India are resold by an agency that has never set foot in Cairo. Misk Tours is Egypt-based and on the ground, and it answers questions your Indian travel agent usually can't.

Vegetarian & Jain Dining

Hotels and Nile cruise kitchens get your vegetarian, no-onion-no-garlic, and Jain meal requests ahead of time. These are arranged when you book, so you don’t have to sort them out at the table.

No Shopping Stops

Your itinerary focuses on Egypt's iconic monuments and time on the Nile. There are no commission-driven stops at papyrus or perfume shops, so every stop adds genuine value to your journey.

WhatsApp Support

There are no ticketing systems or call-back queues. You can message the same Egypt-based team on WhatsApp before, during, and after your trip, using a format Indian travelers already use every day.

Private Egyptologist Guides

You’ll have licensed guides trained in Egyptology, not just general tour leaders. Private, air-conditioned transport and 24/7 on-ground support are included throughout your trip.

Why It Matters

A private Egypt operator vs. a group package reseller

Most "Egypt tours from India" are offered by Indian agencies that simply resell the same fixed-departure bus tours run by local operators.
The comparison below explains what really changes if you book your tour directly with a local operator in Egypt.

Egypt Travel Guide for Indians

Visa, flights, money and food — sorted before you land

Quick reference

The essentials, at a glance.
Passport validity 6+ months
Visa type e-Visa
e-Visa cost ~$25 / ₹2,100–2,700
Time difference India is 3.5 hrs ahead
Peak booking window 3–4 months ahead (Dec–Feb)
Egypt visa for Indian passport holders
Indian citizens must get an Egypt e-Visa online before traveling. Visa on arrival is only for those who already have a valid UK, US, Schengen, Japanese, or Australian visa or residency, so most travelers should not rely on this option.
  • Apply through the official government e-Visa portal. Processing usually takes 3 to 7 business days.
  • You will need a scanned copy of your passport, a passport-style photo, and your travel dates.
  • A single-entry e-Visa costs about ₹2,100 to ₹2,700. Apply at least 10 to 14 days before you leave.
Getting there: flights from India.
EgyptAir offers non-stop flights from Delhi to Cairo, taking about 6.5 to 7.5 hours and running several times a week. If a non-stop flight does not fit your schedule or destination, you can choose one-stop flights via Dubai, Doha, Kuwait, or Abu Dhabi on airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Kuwait Airways, or Gulf Air. These usually add about 1.5 to 2.5 hours to your journey.
  • If you are flying from Mumbai or other Indian cities, one-stop flights are more common than non-stop options.
  • Book your flights 3 to 6 weeks in advance for better prices. Try to avoid peak Indian holiday weeks if you can.
Money, budget & what's not included
Egypt's currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). The package prices listed above are in USD and include hotels, private transport, guiding, and entry fees. They do not include international airfare, the e-Visa fee, tipping, or personal expenses.
  • Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels and cities.
  • Carry some cash for markets, tipping, and smaller towns.
  • Tipping ("baksheesh") is customary for guides, drivers, and hotel staff — budget roughly $5–10 per day.
  • Let your Indian bank know about your travel plans before you leave to avoid your card being blocked while abroad.
Food: vegetarian & Jain options
Egyptian cuisine leans heavily on lentils, chickpeas, rice, flatbread and vegetables, so vegetarian meals are easy to arrange in hotels, cruise ships and city restaurants. Strict Jain requirements (no onion, no garlic, no root vegetables) are best flagged when you book, so kitchens can plan ahead rather than improvise on the day.
Safety, including for solo & female travelers
The main tourist areas, including Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea resorts, are busy with tourists and are generally safe if you take normal precautions. It is best for solo and female travelers to use a private guide and driver instead of public transport. Remember to dress modestly at religious sites.
Food

Vegetarian and Indian food in Egypt

One of the most common questions we get from Indian travellers — and the honest answer is reassuring.

Vegetarian is genuinely easy

Egyptian cuisine has deep vegetarian roots. These are on menus everywhere, even outside tourist areas:
  • Ta'ameya: Egyptian falafel
  • Mahshi: stuffed vegetables
  • Koshari: rice, Lentils & pasta
  • Molokhia: green leafy soup
  • Ful medames: stewed fava beans
  • Lentil Soup: a popular winter favorite
  • Grilled Vegetables: widely served with rice or bread

Indian restaurants in Cairo

A genuine Indian dining scene exists in Cairo, Luxor, Hurghada, and Sharm El Sheikh, with North and South Indian menus, thalis, vegetarian curries, and tandoori dishes available.

Jain/pure-veg requests

Onion- and garlic-free or strictly Jain meals require more planning than general vegetarian meals. Tell us in advance, and we’ll brief your guide and restaurants ahead of each stop to arrange suitable meals throughout your Egypt tour
When To Go

Best time to visit Egypt, mapped to Indian holidays

Egypt's comfortable season (October–April) overlaps neatly with the Indian holiday calendar — useful if you're planning around Diwali, Christmas–New Year, or a winter school break.

Oct–Nov

20–28°C

Warm days, cooler evenings. Lines up well with Diwali travel and is less crowded than peak winter.

Dec–Feb

15–22°C

Peak season — pleasant weather matches Christmas–New Year and winter school holidays. Book early.

Mar–Apr

22–35°C

Warming quickly; great light for photos. May gets hot inland, so aim for March–April if traveling then.

May–Sep

35–45°C

Very hot for sightseeing in Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan. Red Sea resorts like Hurghada remain a good option.

If your dates are fixed around summer holidays, we typically weight the itinerary toward the Red Sea and early-morning sightseeing rather than a full Cairo–Luxor–Aswan circuit.

Ask a Travel Expert
How much does an Egypt trip cost from India?
Most Indian travelers find that a trip to Egypt costs between ₹80,000 and ₹1,50,000 per person for 7 to 10 days. This includes flights, visa fees, accommodation, meals, transportation, and sightseeing. If you travel on a budget, you might spend as little as ₹60,000 by staying in hostels, using public transport, and eating street food. On the other hand, a private, guide-led trip with better hotels can cost ₹2,00,000 or more.
How much would a 7-day trip to Egypt cost?
For a 7-day trip, Indian travelers usually spend between ₹60,000 and ₹1,50,000 per person. This estimate covers flights, hotels, guided tours, local transport, and meals. Round-trip flights alone cost between ₹30,000 and ₹70,000, depending on your departure city, the season, and the airline. It helps to budget flights and the land package separately. A private, Egyptologist-guided land package (not including international flights) generally costs more than a basic group tour, but it offers extras that budget options do not. These include a licensed guide instead of a driver-guide, no commission-based shopping stops, and more flexible timing.
Can Indian travelers use UPI or Indian bank cards in Egypt?
UPI does not work in Egypt at the moment. UPI is available in 10 countries for Indian travelers, such as Greece, Singapore, the UAE, France, Mauritius, and Nepal, but Egypt is not included. So, do not plan to use UPI there. Cards are a different matter. International Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and larger shops in Egypt. Here are two things to know before you go:
  • Foreign transaction fees typically run 1-3% of the purchase on Indian cards used abroad, so check your bank's rates.
  • RuPay-only cards often do not work internationally. Carry a Visa or Mastercard as your main card, and keep some cash (EGP or USD) for taxis, tips, markets, and smaller vendors that may not accept cards.
What should Indian travelers pack for Egypt?
  • Pack modest, breathable clothing. Cover your shoulders and knees at mosques and some temples, and choose light fabrics for daytime heat. Bring one warmer layer for cool desert evenings and Nile cruise cabins.
  • Wear comfortable, closed walking shoes. Ancient sites often have uneven stone and sand underfoot.
  • Bring sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen. Egypt's sun is strong even during the cooler season.
  • Bring a universal or EU adapter. Egypt uses Type C and F plugs (two round pins), so most Indian chargers will work, but having a universal adapter is helpful.
  • Pack a reusable water bottle and a small supply of basic medicines or hand sanitizer. Always use bottled or filtered water.
  • Bring a light scarf or stole. It is useful for mosque visits and also provides sun protection.
  • Carry printed copies of your e-Visa approval, travel insurance, and hotel bookings. Also, bring some small-denomination EGP or USD cash for places that do not accept cards.
